(LifeNews) – A Washington state school district rejected a Planned Parenthood sex education curriculum for its middle school students Wednesday after witnessing strong public opposition.

Spokane Public Schools is the latest to reject programs offered by the top abortion chain in the nation, Inlander reports. School districts in MichiganPennsylvania and North Carolina made similar moves this year after parents expressed outrage that Planned Parenthood would be teaching students as young as 12.

On Wednesday, Spokane school administrators said they decided to piece together their own materials for sex education, as they have done in the past, rather than use Planned Parenthood’s “Get Real” curriculum.

The district waffled on the decision after parents and community members expressed outrage and more than 500 people sent emails to school board members in protest of the curriculum, according to the report.

A school advisory committee recommended the abortion chain’s curriculum to the school board earlier this year; but administrators took the curriculum off the voting agenda in June after being inundated with complaints, the Spokesman-Review reports.

They sent the curriculum back to the advisory committee, but, this fall, the committee chose again to recommend the abortion chain’s materials to the school board. Interestingly, one of the committee members was Rachel Todd, education director for the local Planned Parenthood, according to the report.

The back-and-forth ended Wednesday with school administrators’ announcement that they will not use the Planned Parenthood curriculum.

Here’s more from the report:

The decision gives the district more flexibility, allowing it to respond to changing state standards. The change was also motivated by public concern and input, said district spokesman Kevin Morrison.

“Obviously, our school board had more emails and letters on this than they did when they (adopted) the AP geometry (curriculum),” Morrison said. “To say it didn’t have an impact would be an untruth.”

However, there was an added complication: A committee formed to review sex education curricula chose a different program than Get Real. However, some district staff later pushed Get Real instead.

[The district’s chief academic officer Adam] Swinyard said that is not the typical process and is an “important detail for folks to know.”

Something similar happened in Michigan earlier this year when parents found out the abortion chain was planning to teach sex education to their children. Leaders of the Salien Area Schools decided not use a Planned Parenthood sex education program for students after the plan to work with the abortion chain sparked a strong public outcry.

And in August, a Pennsylvania school district rejected a plan to put a Planned Parenthood-run facility inside Reading High School after massive public protests. Parents and community members also protested a North Carolina school district after learning that it was considering Planned Parenthood’s sex education program for middle school students.

Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion provider in the United States, aborting more than 320,000 unborn babies every year. The abortion chain also teaches sex education in public schools across the country, and promotes risky sexual behavior to vulnerable young teens at its clinics.

In 2014, Live Action release an undercover video series showing Planned Parenthood employees encouraging young teens to participate in sado-masochistic sexual activities, including gagging, whipping, asphyxiation, shopping at sex stores and viewing pornography.

LifeNews also reported Planned Parenthood’s booklet for HIV-positive youth, “Healthy, Happy and Hot,” tells young people that it is their “human right” to not tell their partner that they have HIV.

The abortion giant also publishes multiple “resources” for children and teenagers concerning sexual activity. These materials claim to provide “age appropriate” sex education to children starting at age 4. Planned Parenthood claims starting sex-education at such a young age is important, stating, “Ideally, medical accurate sexuality education would be taught each year in our schools from pre-kindergarten to 12th grade.”
